Dynamic Security Before the evolution of Web 2.0, standard Internet security relied upon URL filtering and anti-virus scanning. In the current Web threat landscape, these technologies are insufficient on their own. Effective Web security today needs to account for content-rich and constantly evolving websites which can be safe and legitimate one day, compromised by hackers overnight and serving malware the next day. In a traditional URL filtering situation, a URL is requested. Provided it is not already classified as malicious, access to the site is granted. If the site has indeed been compromised then a user will be exposed to that malware. With iSheriff, each time a user makes a URL request that site is content scanned in real-time using patented threat modelling technology. Assuming that a website is not already known to be malicious, iSheriff analyzes the website; examining headers, files, associated links, images, and script looking for characteristic indicators of malicious activity. This ensures that an infected website is not presented to a user even if the site has never been visited before or was previously classified as safe. |
